about
Rambagh Palace Jaipur
In a land steeped with heritage, picturesque with exquisite architecture,
in a state vibrant with heroic memories and romance, lies the dream city of
Jaipur. The people are dynamic, martial and, need we say it, colorful. Here
every walk through the by-lanes is a walk through history. Indeed Jaipur
could be compared to a vast open-air museum. Pink turbans jostle with
saffron 'odhinis' (ladies' scarves). Camels, buggies and elephants are as
commonly found as motor cars and buses.
Palaces, with a legendary past, lie cheek by jowi with the humble abodes of
artisans. who still practice 18th and19th century arts and crafts like stone
carving, pottery and miniature paintings. It is in this land of pomp and
pageantry, that you will find one of The Taj Group's finest hotels, Rambagh
Palace.
The Rambagh Palace is an architectural masterpiece that's elegance
personified. The palace is situated in the heart of the city, close to the
main shopping areas and historical monuments. The palace has 106 rooms that
allow guests to relax in the lap of regal luxury

of the hotel. The hotel is a multi-storied building, which reflects
medieval architecture. |
The History Of Rambagh :
It was initially, a modest four room pavilion, built for Kesar badaran,
chief lady-in-waiting to Maharani Chandrawatji, in 1835. Later, in 1887, a
need for a guest-house cum hunting lodge arose. And Kesar badaran ka bagh
naturally lent itself to such a transition.
Rambagh however, only achieved the status of a palace when Maharaja Sawai
Man Singh II returned to his childhood home in 1925. Rambagh Palace,
resplendent in all its 47 acres, was finally converted into a hotel in 1957.
The management was then entrusted to The Taj Group in 1972. The palace has
since blossomed into one of the finest experiences any hotel can offer.
