Rooms Like No Other :
A choice of 98 rooms and suites. Each room appointed with the furniture
originally created for the Palace. Surpassing the splendor of the other
guest rooms are the Maharaja & Maharani Suites originally used
by Maharaja Umaid Singh and his Maharani. In the foyer leading to these
suites is a musical fountain made entirely of English crystal. Some of the
old retainers of the royal household are still there to serve the needs of
present day guests with the gracious hospitality that has always been a
unique hallmark of the Palace.
The Maharani Suite
Originally designed for and indeed once graced by Umaid Singh's Maharani,
the beautiful and charismatic. Badan Kanwar, the Maharani Suite is rather
appropriately domed by a Stefan Norbhn mural of the Goddess Kali etched on
shining black glass.
All in pink and black and chrome and mirror, this suite was indeed worthy
of the queen it was built for, and all of the original Art Deco decor has
been retained. The suite includes spacious drawing and dining rooms with an
attached kitchenette, an enormous balcony with a spectacular view of the
palace gardens and the Mehrangarh Fort, a dressing room with a wardrobe only
a queen could find small, and the piece de resistance -a bath, also designed
by Norblin, carved out of a single piece of pink Italian marble.
The Maharaja Suite
A much earthier and certainly a more masculine mood prevails in Maharaja
Umaid Singh's suite just across the crystal fountain that adorns the lobby
separating his suite from his Maharani's. Obviously, Norblin saved his
finest works for his generous patrons' personal apartment.
The Maharaja Suite has murals of leopards, tigers and horses and even of
the famed Jodhpur sport, pig sticking. Flaming torch lamps in chrome, plush
Ruhlmann sofas in faux leopard skin, the delightful mirrored bar in the
drawing room and the original artifacts that still adorn the shelves make
this an incredibly handsome suite.
Regal Suites
The Umaid Bhawan Palace took to its new incarnation with consummate ease,
the spacious guest suites once reserved for visiting royalty effortlessly
becoming the hotels' seven Regal Suites. Each of these Regal Suites
showcases the Palace, yet each is different with subtle underlying themes. A
favorite color. A princely passion...
Viceregal Suites
Each of the Palace's eight Viceregal Suites is unique too, and no less
luxurious. Indeed, viceroys and dignitaries from the world over have been
entertained in these grand rooms which retain the flavor of an age gone by,
even whilst offering all modern comforts and conveniences.

Feasts Fit For Royalty :
Enjoy the sumptuous buffet laid out daily for lunch and dinner at the Marwar
Hall, with a wide choice of Indian, Continental and Rajasthani
specialties. As an alternative, there is Risala, the a la carte
restaurant.
The lovely colonnaded verandah, The Pillarsis a perfect setting for
a leisurely drink and snacks, to enjoy the wintery sun during the day or
watch it set at dusk. And as twilight falls and peacocks stalk across the
back lawns it is time for a drink at theTrophy Bar.
For groups, there are the specially arranged theme parties with the folk
music of the desert on the ramparts of the Mehrangarh Fort or the 'flaming
torch' dinner on the illuminated lawns of the Palace, which give you an
unforgettable experience.
In winter, theme dinners are often organized in the Dal Badal , a
100-year old intricately designed hunting tent, which is set up in the
Palace.
Other Facilities :
Most of the three hundred and forty seven rooms have been converted into
luxurious suites and apartments. Residents can amble through the Central
Dome, whose cupola rises to a hundred and forty feet, a Throne Room for
private audience, a Library, a private Museum, an indoor Swimming Pool, a
Billiard Room, Tennis Courts, unique marble-floored Squash Courts and
garages stabling vintage cars, many in mint condition. Elegant dining areas
and bars complement the majestic ambience that this grand structure of pink
sandstone and gleaming marble offers.
With its sumptuous Art Deco interiors left undisturbed through careful
restoration, the Umaid Bhawan Palace continues to be the residence of Umaid
Singh's grandson, the present Maharaja of Jodhpur, whose family occupies a
part of what was formerly the Zenana Court.
