about
Hotel Bhanwar Niwas Palace Bikaner
Deep in the thar desert, behind endless waves of sand dunes lies Bikaner,
one of the most interesting centers of later Indian art. In this great town
of red sandstone, with richly decorated houses rising high over its bustling
streets, stands Bhanwar Niwas, the most magnificent of the famed havelis
belonging to the Rampuria family.
Situated within the picturesque walled city of Bikaner is Bhanwar Niwas,
the grandest and most magnificent of the famed havelis (mansions) belonging
to an old and distinguished family of Bikaner-the Rampurias. Bhanwar Niwas
is a tribute and testmony to the skill and meticulous craftmanship of the
artists and craftmen of Bikaner. This building is passing into history at a
time when today's young architects are questioning where modern architecture
is going and where it came from.
 |
  |
The
grand staircase is a paragon architectural beauty, which represent the
subtle elements of aesthetic art. |
Architecture
Completed in 1927 for Seth Bhawarlaji Rampuria, heir to a textile and real
estate fortune, Bhanwar Niwas reflect the fashionable tastes of the 20's, a
taste formal and well ordered luxury with modern conveniences of the time.
The architecture of the haveli and its interiors is a fascinating blend of
Indian and European styles. Bhanwar Niwas and the lovely rooms within it,
witnesses to the promp and glory of the days gone by remained like mute
sentinels. Now a heritage hotel, Bhanwar Niwas offers its guests an
experience of the lost flamboyant world of Rajputana.
Rooms
The Bhanwar Niwas has 12 air conditioned double rooms and 2 single rooms
with all those royal paraphernalia used by the royal family. The rooms are
attached with bathrooms, running hot/cold water, refrigerator, direct
STD/ISD dialing, desk work area, and dataport/modem connection are also
available on request.
Restaurant & Bar
The hotel offers mouth watering vegetarian delicacies in various culinary
preparations such as Indian, Chinese and continental. The dinning room with
a capacity of 50 persons and the coffee shops remains open round the clock.
Conference Halls
The state-of-the-art conference hall is laced with sophisticated
equipment's, which can be an ideal for any business conference. With a
sitting capacity of 50 to 70 people, it has the facilities like theatre and
projectors for slide presentations.
 |
  |
Showcasing
ethnic & contemporary designs and carvings with luxurious chairs,
the dinning hall is the jewel of the hotel.
 |
Recreation
When it comes to recreation, the hotel itself has so many attractions all
round it that will not let you step out of the hotel. A walk down to the
courtyard through grand staircase leads to the blue drawing room that will
leave you in the company of umpteen appealing paintings and drawings. One
can unwind oneself in these delightful areas or can shake a leg to the tune
of the local performers.
Camel Safari
Since the sun can get very hot in desert, the best times for a camel safari
are in the morning and evening, even in the cooler winter months. Such
safaris are usually run by professional outfits who hire raikas, the camel
keepers who are adapt at finding the best routes and water holes in the
desert, and navigate almost by instinct guided, of course, by the position
of the stars at night.
Sightseeing
The Ganga Golden Jubilee Temple: It is one of the best in Rajasthan,
houses an interesting collection of sculptures, terracotta ware, paintings
and also musical instruments.
The Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary: It is 32 kms away and located on the
Jaisalmer road. Bluebull, chinkara and black buck can be found. There are
flocks of imperial sand grouse too.
