Recreation
&
Sightseeing
An oasis of peace :
Recreation :
Welcome to the hinterland of India-the real, unspoilt rural India. Sunbathe
and laze around in our exquisite swimming pool which is uniquely
conceptualized amidst the ruins, stables & turrets of the fort. The
health club helps overcome the fatigue encountered during the journey
through the desert. Relax with a herbal oil massage and enjoy the steam or
sauna bath. The pool lawns enable you to croquet away in peace,
oblivious to other distractions around you. Visit the ancestral in-house
museum of miniature paintings & family memorabilia. Walk into the
handicraft shops with articles personally handpicked by members of the royal
family. Ride into the village or the countryside on horse or camel back.
Rent a bicycle. Come-the country that beckons. So do the peacocks, swallows
and the pigeons. Sit under the rooftop dome and read a book as the
countryside unravels itself for miles around. Witness the revival of
Rajasthans ancient handicrafts by visiting the local cobbler,
goldsmith, potter, weaver & stone mason. Use out telescope to stargaze
in the desert-clear starlit night.

A
rewarding adventure, Camel safari helps in exploring the pristine
deserts of Khimsar. |
Walk through history :
Reserve your time machine & walk back through history. Ramble along the
pathways which lead to the turrets, ruins, stables, guns & cannons that
transport you to a glorious past. Scrutinize the 9th century Jain Gods &
Goddesses carved in sandstone, defaced by Alauddin Khiji, a ruler of the
slave dynasty. Pillars erected in memory of war heroes & of Sati
(when courageous Rajput women burnt themselves alive on the funeral pyre of
their husbands). The piece de resistance is a candle lit dinner set in the
ancient ruins known as Fateh Mahal-named after Fateh Pir Baba, a great Sufi
Saint who blessed the family. After his death, he was buried adjoining the
fort walls. Fateh Mahal was under construction as a personal residence next
to his tomb. The ruling chief died during the construction phase.
Superstition has it that the Saints spirit was not in peace. Hence,
the building was left incomplete.
Today, these ruins provide an exquisite experience where the reverberating
sound of drums & folk dances mingle with the warmth of bonfire that
lights the central dome. A never-to-be forgotten experience.
Forays :
Camel/horse safari into the village or the nearby sand dunes. A
personalized jeep safari to the Black Buck treasure (15 Km. away), followed
by the picnic tea a top he famous Panchla sand dunes. Sip hot tea while the
sun disappears into the marvelous desert countryside. A day trip to Bikaner
enroute Rat temple at Deshnoke, 10th century Nagaur Fort, 8th century Jain
Temples of Osian, Mandore and Jodhpur can be made very comfortable. Visit
the local craftsmen as you stroll through the village. Time spent at Khimsar
is sure to relax you & give you a feel of the charm of rural India.
Experience this genuinely rich hospitality which come from the bottom of the
heart. Unlike the modern, well trained five star stereo-type personnel of
todays world.
